BASIC INFORMATION OF PITLOCHRY

The project is located in the Dalcapon area near Pitlochry in the Scottish Highlands, an ecological environment characterized by rugged mountainous terrain, extensive forests and rivers and streams. However, human activity has led to the gradual fragmentation of the riverine and forested ecological habitats. The project is a gradual transformation to return human-occupied spaces to natural spaces, and in the process, the different types of habitat are restored to their proper connection. The design phase of the project takes into account the human and non-human experience, planning the space for human activities within the site and ultimately creating a new and balanced natural space that provides a special landscape experience for the users.

Project Concepts

After further testing and extrapolation of the dynamic system, the project gradually shifted to its specific design components. The project continues to deepen the multi-scale analysis and design of forest fragmentation issues. The project was analysed and designed to integrate human and non-human uses of space through the use of nurseries, planting, planting mixtures and topography. In order to realise the proposal to restore fragmented habitats and connect more ecological habitats, I focused on mountain bike parks. The theme of forest journeys is the most important part of the mountain bike park and this is how I have used this theme to realise my proposals in this project.

The cycle of life and the dynamics of the landscape

The loss and flourishing of life means that the landscape dynamics change when we consider how the landscape of Pitlochry will change in the face of global warming, the next ice age, or another asteroid impact on Earth. In this section I use the Anthropocene perspective to speculate on the dynamics of Pitlochry's landscape over 200,000 years from a more macro perspective. The black and white ink drawings, which I made after revisiting the site, show the overall impression of Pitlochry from the microscopic to the macroscopic, as well as the current state of the site.
