With the development of network technology, the relationship between technology and devices and human beings is getting tighter and tighter. Intimacy and distance are contradictory existences in themselves, but the advent of the internet has broken this contradiction. It has made it possible for anyone who is thousands of miles apart or has never met before to establish intimate relationships. But I think loneliness and isolation prevail in this online world, where likes and emojis substitute heartfelt conversations. Online interactions provide an illusion of connection; beneath the surface is a world of superficiality and masked identities. Disguised roles replace real emotional bonds, leaving us longing for authentic connections in superficial interactions.
The internet has changed the shape of intimacy—— 'liquefying' it. This project aims to make people think about attitudes to online intimacy and explore the relationship between the internet and the way that intimacy is constructed.
