Project description

It is like a chapter of apocalypse, questioning the definition of human beings based on the development of "digital life" in the future, with its vigilance towards the dark future.

Human beings have basically conquered brain science in the future and can achieve digital immortality. This also means that a person can change their consciousness and create new ones. Therefore, humans have transitioned from discovering species to creating species, making future humans more like eternal creators.

At the same time, other intelligent creatures were also born. In order to continue their role as managers of the new world order, humans have created a festival called "Trial Day". For more convenient control and management, all species, including humans, must undergo a redefinition of their identities on this day. And so the story unfolds from here.

-Scene Design

People are always keen to judge others, so the division of Sphinx species is undoubtedly more fanatical. Like the Colosseum, everyone surrounds the central character, maybe they have sympathy, maybe they are judging seriously by their own standards, maybe they are just watching. And then this act of judging becomes a performance.

Field
-Facility

Four large screens are set up inside the venue to broadcast Sphinx's updates in real-time and display relevant information about his trial.

The audience wore uniform and happily waved their hands. The oppressive atmosphere is like a rigid standard for judging people, which is terrifying.

The two conveyor glass doors are the entrance and exit.

2.Scene 1.5

The meaning of Scene 1.5 is actually to connect fragments, which means that the linker is responsible for logically stringing all scenes together, like a bridge. But it doesn't just exist between Scene1 and Scene2, but rather sandwiched between each scene.

In order to visualize the process of retrieving and reviewing Sphinx files, this linker needs to seamlessly connect with the previous segments, so I have set up segments from looking at the screen to entering the screen for transition.

Afterwards, the main issues of the project are highlighted through system error reporting, and Scene 2&3&4 are also introduced.

In order to give the audience a clearer understanding of the entire short film, a "click scene" shot was designed, similar to a content.

Scene 1.5
-Scene Design

Based on the previous system's error messages for the gene, the

second scene mainly explores whether babies born from "traditional defined humans" and "future defined humans" are humans.

Therefore, this scene aims to showcase the comparison between purebred genes (the first generation family of Sphinx) and impure genes (Sphinx).

But I found that when studying genetic genetics, people usually use tree diagrams.

Scene Design-1
-Trend

The manifestation and nurturing of genes are closely related, with the mother's uterus being the place of nurturing, leading to the concept of "post-uterus." All elements in this scene revolve around the "uterus".

Scene Design-2
-Water

Water is an indispensable element in this scene.

Scene Design-3
-Fertilized Egg

The audience can see the difference of genes through the shape of the fertilized egg.

-Sex Toys & Hammock

Since there is no uterus shape in the scene, how to tell the audience that this is the place where fertilized eggs are born? So I tried to tie it to sex.

A hammock is a great option, it's not as bulky as a bed in a bedroom, and it holds fertilized eggs well and works metaphorically.

Some poles for hanging hammocks were designed and because I was trying to create a mysterious and tender atmosphere, they were shaped like sex toys.

Based on the previous system's error messages for the appearance, the third scene mainly needs to highlight the place of changing his face. In this story, I highlighted the depiction of the head. Because people are most likely to recognize their own kind through their facial features.

Scene Design-4

And the easiest place to associate a change in appearance is a beauty salon. So I decided to build a future beauty salon.

I have selected some commonly used items for plastic surgery to be placed in the scene, so that the audience can quickly identify the connection between the scene and the plot.

Scene Design-5
-Eagle Eye Tree

Eagle Eye Tree is the main body of Beauty Salon. It contains cosmetic tools, facial mechanical parts and review webcam.

Eagle Eye Tree
-Rover

The Rover consists of a real-time display screen and a pulley. After it locks the target, it can automatically capture facial feature points and compare them with humans.

-Facial Plastic Surgery

If we have the ability to freely change the appearance in the future, will the similarity of human appearance be one of the indicators for distinguishing humans? Will you admit that they are human when their faces are completely altered?

Based on the previous system's error messages for the thinking module, the fourth scene mainly needs to highlight the process of exchanging thinking codes between Sphinx and other organisms.

When thinking codes are being exchanged:

-The light bulb will light up

-The fan will rotate

-The brain waves in the monitor will change

Scene Design-6
-Brain Wave

To highlight the impact of thinking on human identity determination, I need to find a way to visualize thinking mode. After brainstorming, I decided to use the brainwaves of living organisms to represent the changes in thinking.

Brainstorming

I used CHAT-GPT as my design tool. Through my descriptions, it generated different codes, which I then modified and eventually transformed into the final form of brainwave patterns. With the incorporation of artificial intelligence, it aligns even more closely with the theme of artificial life.
