Bio

I am an Artist and Puppeteer. My style is a surrealist folk art fusion, inducing a nature-based fever dream. My performative practice is informed by my love of nature, with animistic themes running throughout my work. I am one of the co-founders of puppetry collective Wyld & Green. Puppetry is a radical and immersive form of storytelling where there are no limitations and involves an active participation from the audience. I believe art should be participated in, not just observed. Through my practice I aim to create a connectivity between people and nature through creative experiences.

'Liberty' the Mushroom Puppet Show

Through the power of puppetry, we have orchestrated an immersive and educational experience, illustrating the connection between humans and mushrooms as well as addressing the criminalisation of psychedelics.

Wyld & Green Collective

Wyld & Green is an artist collective by Flora Dewar & myself. We communicate botanical folktales in a radical contemporary context through puppetry & performance. With an emphasis on the emergency of the climate crisis, we are exploring the potential of storytelling as a tool to prompt a dialogue regarding our relationship with the natural world. We recently took ‘Elder Stories’ to Moving Parts puppet festival where we use the animistic power of puppetry, taking ancient folklore surrounding the Elder tree and weaving it into new contemporary issues such as the climate crisis and land ownership.

Candlelit Ceilidh

The Candlelit Ceilidh is a storytelling night that I host. It is a time for people to come together to share stories, songs, or poems in an accessible way. The nights are hosted at Edinburgh Student Housing Co-operative.

Mask Making & Embodiment Workshop

A hessian mask making & embodiment workshop that I hosted. Exploring the relationship between archetypes and our bodies we created narratives to sound through our movements. Hosted at Edinburgh Student Housing Co-operative.
