I make art about art. Conveniently, art happens to be pretty broad according to proceduralists.
I have always disliked the indiscriminate use of labels when displaying a work. I see it as a fundamental lack of faith in the medium one has chosen, having to resort to the use of an external qualifier to explain the work. So I wanted to see which aspects of the presence of labels I can subvert, and how far I can push the boundary between a label and an artwork.
A parallel thread examines the implications of modern technology on art, namely surveillance and AI, through the exploration of their implementation in my works. From converting analogue entities into digital representations, to ceding co-authorship to a generative AI in recognition of their agency, I have been in search of a framework to better understand the presence of technology in the creative decision-making process.
