Project description

My work focuses on processing emotions. I often struggle with accurately identifying my emotions, and because of this I sometimes feel like I'm only understanding a small piece of them. My personal connection to horses is what led me to work with them, and by abstracting them and just showing a cropped view of the horse, I am reflecting how my own emotions feel. Each horse represents an individual powerful emotion, and by selecting what part of the horse you can see I am forcing the viewer to only understand a small yet chaotic part of a much bigger animal.

Thehorse on the right is leaning away from the horse on the left, and has one leg cocked very high while the rest of its legs are on the ground. Its body is at an angle, sloping gently down from the top right corner to the left hand edge of the painting. One of its legs is on the ground while the other three are held in the air, creating the feeling that the horse is running. The horse is painted in dark brown, bright forest green and light green. The background is light blue with a patch of light yellow at the bottom of the painting.
