Xinye Song, originating from China, is an artist working in installation works. She employs knitting techniques to create textured representations of plants in her knitted art pieces.

She amalgamates the attributes of memory with the art of knitting, embarking on a journey to re-envision the locales of her childhood. Through craftsmanship, she transforms these recollections into hand-knitted landscapes replete with intricate layers and textures. Through knitting art, she rekindles memories of her hometown, moss, and nature, evoking beautiful experiences and recollections from the past.

Situational Experience

Drawing inspiration from the imagery of  “moss,” skillfully employs a range of knitting methods to yield diverse forms and intricate textures. The resulting knitted forms encompass a map-like essence, transitioning from visual abstraction to figurative representation.

I've added multi-sensory elements so that people can recall memories through touch and smell.
