Bio
Caitlin Whitaker (she/her) is an Edinburgh based artist and printmaker.
Her visual lexicon explores a quotidian existence, with text additionally explored as a tool which creates layers of narrative. Intimate scenes embody new meaning when rendered as precise, perpetual and tactile prints, depicting collected traces and memories of a unique life lived. Printmaking embodies a paradox in their practice which is navigated through an exploration of purely analogue methods of making. Utilising the tactile and labour-intensive nature of print to depict scenes which are fleeting and ephemeral constructs an interesting interplay between process and subject matter, which lies at the analytical core of her practice.
