Lauren is passionate about craftsmanship and the art of garment construction, her personal design style is feminine and sophisticated, often inspired by construction methods, bringing an element of deconstruction into her work.

CONCEPT
THE UNDERBELLY is a Couture 2024 collection which explores themes of dissection and deconstruction. My research investigates dissection of the body as well as the construction and unseen structures of bespoke tailoring and couture fashion. My collection highlights craftsmanship to reject the fashion industry increasing consumption culture which has lead to a loss of appreciation of skill and craftsmanship involved in fashion.
RESEARCH
Research involved investigating the dissection of the body and the body after death, drawing upon imagery to bring the fleshy inside out, and exploring the inner structure of garments to inform design and construction decisions.
