Project description

From January to August 2022, my time in the USA - exploring New England and the Midwest - immersed me in a constant state of culture shock. I encountered the novelties and familiarities of American life: over reliance on cars, lower food standards, extreme friendliness, and iced coffee. Deep friendships formed the bedrock of my experiences, fuelling my art. I treasure images that capture everyday warmth and love, while navigating an increasingly fascistic political climate. As a young, queer, left-wing foreigner, my work provides a personal and critical lens on contemporary American life. Through everyday observations my photographs straddle the profound quotidian of friendship and politics.
