Project description

Exploring themes of temporality, narrativity and intimacy within the everyday, somewhere in-between encourages a discussion of what happens when nothing happens. It is in those fleeting moments that spaces objects and people in them appear exactly as they are; un-staged and, simply, existing. Narrative connections are made through a romantic lens, emphasising the pleasant, the sensory and a strong presence of nostalgia throughout.

This body of work is a true reflection of how the camera sees its immediate surroundings every day, and the serendipitous beauty to be found in their mundanity. It is merely in the want to share that experience and connect with others’ versions of the everyday that these photos find their purpose and ask you to consider the beauty of human existence, even when a human presence is nowhere to be found, only to be imagined.

The workbooks document the vast array of mundane moments captured in the past year. Though originally intended as a means of research and selection they have become a body of work in their own right, creating a process-to-practice feedback loop for this entire project.

Both Workbook 1 and Workbook 2 can be viewed below in video form.
