Bio

Lauren is a conceptual interdisciplinary Artist, recently graduated from Intermedia Art at Edinburgh University. Lauren has always been drawn to the people around her, continually using them as inspiration for her work. This focus has manifested into an exploration of ‘connection through experience’; highlighting the importance of connection.

She celebrates connection by recreating rituals of human nature, from abstract processes of creation to relational events such as breakfast. Lauren highlights the ‘beauty in the mundane’ by focusing on overlooked elements of life; revealing her respect for the individuals experience. Laurens understanding of temporality places her work within a study to connect the individuals that experience her work.

Lauren uses mediums such as, video, performance, participation, sound, painting and photography within her practice. Her recent work uses video, sound, performance and installation to ‘redefine the familiar’, recreating the familiar scene of ‘breakfast’ she invites the audience to relate to the work and therefore each other. Frustrated with the inaccessible and imposing nature of the conventional ‘white cube’ artistic experience, Lauren hopes to create work that encourages the unifying celebration of the ordinary experience, re-introducing the nature of creation to the human experience.

‘Postmodern Breakfast’ attempts to ‘Redefine the Familiar’.
